About Me

Hi, I'm Taylor Michel! I am a future political strategist with a passion for political organization and creating meaningful change. My mission is to put the next generation of powerful young progressives in office on local, state, and national levels through the power of communication.

I will graduate from Chapman University in December 2023 with a B.A. in Political Science and a B.A. in Strategic and Corporate Communication. These concentrations have allowed me to hone the analytical savviness and the understanding of target audiences and communities needed to make me competitive in the political communication field.

The biggest thing I bring to every task I face is my determination. When I set my mind to a task, I will not let go until it is accomplished in the most efficient and effective approach possible. I take pride in my ability to problem solve throughout difficult high-stakes situations. I am persistent, perseverant, and assertive, always thinking in terms of the big picture and the end result in mind.

Event Activity Manager - Fun 4 Events

My love of coordinating with clients, event planners, and attendees to ensure that everyone has a positive and fun experience at every event allowed me to work up from Photo Booth Assistant to Attendant to the Event Activity Manager position.

Throughout my time as Event Activity Manager, I have:

  • Led efforts to coordinate, develop and execute thematically aligned event programming for over 200 events.

  • Conducted site visits, vendor walkthroughs, and other pre-event meetings with third parties to explain event objectives, site restrictions, and performance expectations.

  • Managed hundreds of stations and staff members to get attendees excited to engage with event experiences.

  • Created experiences to draw in target audiences and promote causes of 12+ non-profit organizations.

  • Maintained client loyalty by resolving issues with workers, technology, programming, or services provided.

During my semester studying in Washington, D.C., I got the amazing opportunity to originate this position with USCHS. Their internship positions typically require graduate student level work, but when they saw my experience and personality, they hired me as a Sophomore and I exceeded expectations.

Throughout my time interning at USCHS, I :

  • Created and revitalized over 70 teaching resources promoting civic engagement for classrooms of all ages across the U.S.

  • Communicated with schools and historical locations to coordinate 15 tours taking over 500 underprivileged 8th graders in the Washington, D.C. area to be immersed in their city’s significant history and inspiring them to be informed citizens.

  • Developed and analyzed surveys to test and pre-test what the students learned on their tours to make them more effective.

  • Featured as an author in the Capitol Coloring Book for writing narratives about important historical sites around D.C.

  • Engaged with over 800 Teachers at the 2022 National Council for the Social Studies in Philadelphia, PA to inform them of the free-to-use Teacher Civics Resource Hub I created and receive feedback to improve its functions.

Founder & Event Manager - Youth Empowerment Club

As a teen, I was enraged at the fact that politicians would say "the youth are our future" but not let us get involved in political conversations because we were not of voting age yet. I founded Fullerton, CA's branch of the Youth Empower Club by the Women's March Movement to motivate my peers and the generations to come to get involved and have their voices heard.

Over the course of my time with the club, I:

  • Created a safe environment and facilitated conversations for teens to discuss and act on important political matters.

  • Organized 10+ community events like National Teen Voter Pre-Registration Day and Menstrual Hygiene Drives.

  • Coordinated field trips for 50+ students and community members to political rallies and protests, empowering them to have their voices heard.

Founder & Manager of Program - The Pet Pantry Program

As a lifelong animal lover, I was shocked to find that most pantries do not have dedicated supplies for animals, leading homeless individuals, whose sole companions are oftentimes their pets, to choose between feeding themselves or feeding their animals.

Throughout my time developing this program, I:

  • Founded pet supply pantry to assist low-income/homeless pet owners to meet needs of animals in their care.

  • Designed and distributed flyers and pamphlets promoting proper pet care for animals and developed relationships with local vets to create a program for discounted and free spay, neuter, and vaccinations for pets supported by pantry.

  • Led team to coordinate, build, fundraise, and execute plan to support disadvantaged pet owners in Orange County.

  • Was honored as 1 of 30 out of 700 Gold Award recipients in the Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year's Day 2019.
